A 14-year-old boy allegedly staged a kidnapping to cover a theft he committed at his maternal uncle’s house in Vadodara on Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning, local residents from Padra gathered at the Narmada canal near the Patalia Hanuman temple, where the boy allegedly jumped and then called for help. The villagers managed to rescue the student after which he told the fabricated story that he had been kidnapped by two men riding motorcycles.

The Padra police station arrived on the spot and launched an investigation into the case.

Later in the evening, the police said, the ninth-grade student confessed that he and two of his accomplices had masterminded the abduction and he voluntarily jumped into the Narmada canal fearing that he would be caught in the theft case at his uncle’s residence, from where he had stolen money and gold. chain among other valuables.
