Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met the Prime Minister in Delhi, there is speculation about the meeting after the arrest of Partha Chatterjee.
Mumbai : Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi today. The agenda of this meeting is about the problems facing the country. Discussions around GST are likely to take place under the centralized system that his government has long requested. Bengal has repeatedly accused the BJP-led Center of delaying TPS payments to states, especially those run by opposition parties.
In June, Chief Advisor to West Bengal Chief Minister Amit Mitra had claimed that the Center had failed to release Rs 27,000 crore of in-app fees to the states.
However, the meeting sparked widespread speculation days after Parth Chatterjee was arrested by the law enforcement branch. The minister, who was arrested after a pile of cash was found at the home of his aide Arpita Mukherjee, was known to be a close confidant of Ms Banerjee.
On August 7, the Chief Minister of Bengal will attend the NITI Aayog meeting chaired by PM Modi. The Governing Council meetings of the ECB mainly discuss issues related to agriculture, health and economy.
Ms Banerjee had skipped the council meeting last year. In this year’s meeting, issues related to non-payment of GST dues and issues related to federalism should be addressed.
