New Delhi: Police have arrested Manish Lakra, the owner of a building in Mandka area of ​​the national capital, following a major victory in the fire. A fire broke out in a commercial building in Mandka area on Friday, killing 27 people.

The police FIR registered in connection with the fire said that a meeting was going on on the second floor of the building in which a large number of people were present when suddenly a fire broke out and people got trapped in it. There was no emergency exit gate in the building.

Police have registered a case against the owner of the building Manish Lakra, his mother and wife besides two brothers Harish and Varun Goel, who had rented the property. According to the FIR, the Goel brothers did not take care of the safety of their employees. Police have already arrested the two. Most employees were on the second floor at the time of the incident due to the motivational program.

The FIR has been registered on a complaint lodged by SHO Inspector Gulshan Nagpal of Mandka police station, stating that the police received a report of the incident on Saturday evening at 5.45 pm through PCR call. Police station personnel reached near the building at Plot No. 193 on Main Rohtak Road where people were already gathered downstairs. On the main road, some people broke the glass window and came down. Fire brigade personnel, NDRF personnel and other agencies were also called to the spot.

According to the FIR, the building which caught fire is spread over 500 square yards with buildings from basement to four floors. A residential flat has been built in the upper part of it. The building is owned by Manish Lakra, whose father Baljit Lakra has passed away. There are shops on the ground floor of the building, while from the first to the third floor is the office of Cafe Ampex Pvt. Ltd. It is traded by importing parts of CCTV cameras, SIMs and routers.

The company employs about 100 people, of whom 50 are women. All employees were on the second floor of the office on Friday because of the agitation program. After the fire broke out, some people trapped inside broke the windshield and jumped out of the main road. Many people were trapped inside the building due to the fire. There was only one way to enter the building and that too by the side of the street.
