An official statement said Election Commission Chairman Rajiv Kumar and Election Commissioner Anup Chandra Pandey on Thursday arrived in Shimla for a three-day visit to review preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh. The state election office said the high-level team of the Election Commission of India headed by the Central Election Commission (CEC) visited a polling station in Dharampur in Solan district on their way to Shimla.
Kumar also interacted with elderly, physically disabled and transgender voters and provided them with shawls and letters of appreciation. He also met the IEC team and congratulated the first time voters and gave them the ‘EPIC Kit’, which contains a voter ID card, a pocket voter guide and a voter pledge.
It added that the state’s Chief Electoral Officer Manish Garg welcomed and honored the European Commission Election Team in Dharampur. Earlier, Solan Deputy Commissioner Kritika Kulhari, Superintendent of Police Virinder Sharma and Additional Executive Director Dalip Negi welcomed the ECI team at Chandigarh Airport.
