Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Sunday slammed the Narendra Modi government at the Center for using probe agencies to pressurize her party leaders in Chhattisgarh, in an apparent reference to the recent ED raids in the state.
Such raids were an attack on the people of Chhattisgarh and their rights, she said at a rally in Jora village on the occasion of the conclusion of the 85th plenary session of the Congress in Raipur.
She said the Narendra Modi government is ignoring the voices of the poor while listening only to its industrialist friends.
“Farmers in the country earn 27 rupees a day, but a friend of the prime minister earns 1,600 crores a day. The youth are jobless but airports, ports, railways and PSUs are being handed over to Gautam Adani,” she said.
Thousands of people gathered from all over the state on the huge ground that served as the venue for the rally.
The Congress leader arrived in Raipur on Saturday morning to attend the party’s three-day 85th Plenary Session and was greeted with 6,000 kg of roses spread over a 2-km stretch of the capital.
