Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says Palestinians are ‘not alone’ in the fight against Israel MIGMG News

Tehran (AFP) – The commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said on Saturday that the Palestinians are “not alone” in their battle against Israel, as they face a second day of air strikes in Gaza.

“Today, all the anti-Zionist jihadist capabilities are on the scene in a unified formation that works to liberate Jerusalem and support the rights of the Palestinian people,” Major General Hossein Salami said in a statement on the Revolutionary Guard’s “Sepah News” website.

“We are with you on this path to the end, and let Palestine and the Palestinians know that they are not alone,” Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Ziad al-Nakhala said during a meeting in Tehran.

Israel said it launched a “preemptive” operation against Islamic Jihad on Friday to avert an imminent attack after days of tension along the Gaza border.

A senior commander of the group was killed in an air strike on Gaza City on Friday in a wave of strikes on the strip.

The Gaza Health Ministry said a five-year-old girl was among 12 people killed in the Israeli bombing. More than 80 others were injured.

Palestinian militants responded with a barrage of rockets at Israel in the worst escalation in the Strip since last year’s war.

Salami stressed that the Palestinian response shows that a “new chapter” has begun and that Israel “will pay another heavy price for the latest crime.”

“The Palestinian resistance today is stronger than it was in the past,” he said, adding that armed groups have found “the ability to conduct major wars.”

The Iranian Foreign Ministry condemned the “brutal Israeli attack” on Gaza.

President Ibrahim Raisi said that Israel “once again showed the world its occupier and aggressive nature,” according to a statement issued by his office.

Iran is a major supporter of Islamic Jihad, and he met with Nakhaleh Raisi and other officials during his visit.

Israel accuses Iran of smuggling weapons to Palestinian armed groups in Gaza. In March last year, it said it had intercepted two Iranian drones loaded with weapons for Gaza.
