In an important statement on the vicious campaign against Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the ISPR has expressed regret that wrong information regarding the assets of the Chief of General Staff and his family has been shared on social media, TV channel 24NewsHD reported on Sunday.
The military’s media wing said on Sunday that these erroneous figures were exaggerated based on assumptions.
The ISPR said that a certain group had cleverly and dishonestly attributed the properties of the father and family of General Bajwa’s daughter-in-law to the army chief and his family. A completely wrong impression is being created that these funds were accumulated by his daughter-in-law’s father’s family during the six-year tenure of Army Chief General Bajwa.
The allegation is completely contrary to facts and based on blatant falsehood and dishonesty, ISPR said, adding that all assets of Army Chief Bajwa, his wife and family are regularly reported to the FBI.
The army chief and his family file their tax returns regularly, the ISPR said, adding that like any citizen, the army chief and his family are accountable to the tax authorities in respect of their property.
