Very rarely this virus is found in humans, usually people who come into direct contact with infected birds suffer from bird flu. The WHO made the announcement following the death of an eleven-year-old girl infected with the virus in Cambodia. Cambodia’s health ministry said the father of the dead girl also tested positive for the virus, raising fears that bird flu can be passed from person to person. Sylvie Briand, director of the WHO’s Outbreak and Preparedness Programme, said her organization was in close contact with Cambodian authorities and that tests had been carried out on people close to the girl who died. In late 2021, when this virus spread around the world and tens of millions of chickens were destroyed, a large number of wild birds died as a result. This virus later spread to other nursing mothers.
