ISLAMABAD – The Secretariat of the National Assembly has written to the Inspector General of Police, Islamabad to submit a comprehensive report on the alleged case of sexual assault, which took place at Fatima Jinnah Park (F-9) on February 2, 2023. Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf, on the occasion of this incident, emphasized that details are being sought through the report on the progress of the investigation and the steps being taken to bring the perpetrators to justice. cases. It is relevant to mention that this issue was also discussed in today’s session of the National Assembly, where the members of the National Assembly strongly condemned the incident and expressed their displeasure over the negligible progress achieved so far in the case.
Deputy Speaker Zahid Akram Durrani, who was presiding over the assembly session at the time of the discussion, remarked that such heinous acts cannot be tolerated and there is a need to take strict action against all those involved in the incident. Due to the gravity and slow progress of the case, the Deputy Speaker while presiding over the session passed a resolution directing the IGP Police, Islamabad to submit a report to the House within 24 hours.
