New Delhi: On the occasion of World Health Day celebrated on Thursday, the Department of Ayush organized the Yoga Utsav Health Awareness Program for World Yoga Day, in Red Fort.

Utsav Yoga was organized prior to International Yoga Day in light of the Federation Government’s initiative of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahutsav.

Lok Sabha Chief Om Birla and Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal, Meenakshi Lekhi, G Kishan Reddy and others attended the massive yoga event.

“Yoga is our ancestors’ way of life. We have maintained this yoga practice today prior to International Yoga Day in connection with ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’,” said Lok Sabha spokesperson Om Birla.

“Yoga is effective not only in prevention and control but also in curing diseases. The whole world today is embracing yoga for a healthier lifestyle,” read Om Birla’s recent tweet.

In order to reach the goal of building a healthier nation, speaker Lok sabha urged everyone to make yoga an integral part of their lives.

Birla told ANI, “In light of Azadi ka Amrit Mahutsav, Utsav Yoga was organized 75 days before International Yoga Day to encourage everyone to choose a healthy lifestyle.”

Union Minister Sarbanda Sunwal in one of his recent tweets called on everyone to be part of the Ayush movement and said, “Ayush’s gifts have served humanity since ancient times.”

“Affordable, effective and grass-roots, India’s traditional medicine systems provide health and wellness benefits to millions around the world,” he stated in a tweet.

Sonwal also said, “Utsav marks the beginning of the countdown to June 21 (International Yoga Day). Each ministry on the occasion (June 21) will celebrate Yog singers in 75 special places in the country, on the occasion of Azadi ka Amrit Mahutsav.”

“Not only India, but other Christian and Muslim countries have also realized the importance of yoga and its practice with the help of the United Nations,” Union Minister J Kishan Reddy said during the celebration of World Health Day.

India’s Federal Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi stated in the Yoga Utsav organized message that “By recognizing the importance of disease prevention, the message is to encourage people to stay healthy and encourage them to stay immersed in preventive healthcare.”
