Kolkata: By-elections will be held in Murshidabad’s Sagardighi assembly seat today. Adequate arrangements have been made for the security system. The counting of votes is scheduled to take place on March 2. A total of 246 stands have been set up in Sagargigi. Central forces will be deployed at all polling stations to ensure free and peaceful elections. 30 companies of the central forces will be present. IAS officer E Raveendran is the general observer of this election. Please inform that Subrata Saha was the MLA for three consecutive terms from Sagardighi Constituency. After his death, elections are held in this place. A total of 51.% votes were cast here in the 2021 assembly elections. Trinamool Congress defeated BJP by a margin of 50206 votes. Devashish Banerjee of Trinamool, Dilip Saha of BJP and Byron Biswas of Congress are the candidates in the by-election.
