A delegation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) called on National Assembly (NA) Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and discussed the issues of accepting resignations of PTI MNAs.
Mr Ashraf said he accepted the resignations as per the rules and regulations of the assembly and the Constitution. “I kept writing to PTI MNAs to appear before me but no one paid heed,” he added. He accepted the resignations, he said, after a PTI delegation led by Asad Qaisar and Amir Dogar called on him.
If the PTI members did not resign of their own free will, he asked. He said he would inform PTI after discussing the matters with the legal team.
Amir Dogar, while talking to the media, said that they had come to meet the Speaker to discuss the issues of appointment of the NAB Chairman and NA Leader of Opposition. “Lahore High Court (LHC) reinstates 70 PTI MNAs, in light of which we are looking for an opposition leader from the opposition party who enjoys more support than others,” he added. The constitution mandated the appointment of the NAB president, he said, after consultations with the opposition leader.
