Ranbir Kapoor is set to return to the big screen with his upcoming movie Shamshera. The multi-starred film, an all-India project, is an attempt to cross language barriers and communicate with audiences across the country. The film is a special project for RK, as it is his first theatrical release after the death of Rishi Kapoor’s dad. Ranbir recently shared that he wishes his father, late actor Rishi Kapoor, was alive to watch the movie. Rishi passed away on April 30, 2020, after suffering from cancer.
In a press release, Ranbir said, “I wish my dad was alive to watch this movie. He has always been blatantly vocal about his criticisms if he liked or disliked something, especially in my work. So, it’s sad that he won’t see it. But I am excited Really because I’ve done a movie like this and I hope he’ll look for me somewhere out there and be proud of me.”
He added, “I definitely want to grow as an actor and a star, and Shamshera is definitely a positive step towards that. You want to make films for a larger audience. You want to tell stories that different generations of audience can relate to and enjoy.”
In Shamshera, Ranbir writes the titular role of a man, who becomes a slave and later turns into a chieftain for the safety of his tribe.
The story of Shamshira takes place in the fictional city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by the tyrannical and ruthless General Choud Singh. This is the story of a man who became a slave, a slave who became a leader and then a legend for his tribe. He fights relentlessly for the freedom and dignity of his tribe. His name is Shamshira.
The high-octane, adrenaline-pumping series is set in the heart of India. It’s a huge promise never made before by Ranbir Kapoor who plays Shamshira in the movie! Sanjay Dutt plays the role of the archenemy of Ranbir in this massive coup, and his confrontation with Ranbir will be something to watch out for as they will hunt fiercely without any mercy.
