New Delhi: A 146-foot-tall statue of Lord Murugan has been unveiled in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu. The statue located at Sri Muthumalai Murugan Thirukovil in Ethapur on Salem-Chennai National Highway is claimed to be the tallest in the world.
The statue was consecrated on Wednesday after which devotees were allowed to enter. The temple authorities threw rose petals at the statue from a helicopter.
The statue unveiled in Tamil Nadu has broken the record for the Murugan Statue near Batu Caves which was also built by the same sculptor.
