PTI chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan is on his way to Islamabad from Lahore on Saturday to appear in court in connection with the Toshahana case as authorities have thrown blanket security in Islamabad to avoid any violence, TV channel 24NewsHD reported.

A large number of PTI leaders and supporters accompanied the former prime minister as he left the Zaman Park residence for the federal capital via the highway.

Prominent among them were Gilgit Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid, Azam Swati, Faisal Javed and Ali Afzal Sahi.

Many PTI activists are expected to join Imran Khan’s convoy en route to Islamabad.

Amid tight security, Imran Khan will now appear in the Judicial Complex after his request to transfer the case from the Islamabad District and Sessions Court was accepted.

The Islamabad High Court on Friday suspended his arrest warrants in the Toshahana case and ordered him to appear before the court on Saturday (today). The Lahore High Court has also granted the PTI chief anticipatory bail in a series of cases to pave the way for his exit from Zaman Park, where police and Rangers personnel have launched an operation to arrest him, but have been unsuccessful so far.

After accepting his request to transfer the case, Imran Khan will now attend the court hearing at the Judicial Complex at G11 instead of the Islamabad District Court at F8.

Authorities have beefed up security arrangements ahead of Imran Khan’s court appearance and imposed Section 144 in the federal capital.

Imran Khan will appear before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal who has summoned the PTI chief on charges in the Toshahana case.

Internet service is suspended

As part of security arrangements, authorities have suspended internet service in parts of Islamabad.

The service was suspended in various sectors around the Court Complex.

Ban on carrying weapons

Islamabad Police said they have no permission to allow any armed person in the federal capital after the implementation of Section 144.

Police said weapons will be confiscated from people traveling in the PTI caravan from Lahore before they enter Islamabad.

They also urged the Punjab government not to allow armed men to travel with the rally.

The list of PTI leaders has changed

There has been a change in the list of PTI leaders who will accompany Imran Khan in the court.

The number of such leaders has increased from six to 14.

Asad Umar, Shibli Faraz, Omar Ayub, Fawad Chaudhry, Murad Saeed, Amir Kiani, Pervaiz Khattak, Asad Qaiser, Atif Khan, Mahmood Khan and Shah Farman will take court with Imran Khan.

Employees of the Court Complex will be allowed to enter only after checking their official cards.

Imran’s legal team

Imran Khan’s legal team reached the gate of the Court Complex but were not allowed entry, PTI leader Shibli Faraz said.

Imran’s security chief was also denied entry.

PTI’s Babar Awan wasted no time and filed an application with the court to bar entry of PTI’s lawyers, media and security.
