Ashwagandha is a reliable crop yielding in four months

Ashwagandha farming is still a new experiment. But Amol Bayas, a young farmer from Karanji, has shown what happens when there is accurate information and the courage to change the cropping pattern. Amol Bayas obtained Ashwagandha seeds from Indore and planted them in his field in a scientific manner at a cost of Rs. 30,000. This plant will take about four and a half months to mature. As the roots, seeds, leaves and stems of this plant will also be used for medicinal purposes, it is expected to cost Rs. 1 lakh per acre.

A topic of attraction for farmers in Panchkrushi

Until now, farmers have been focusing on traditional crops in Karanji Shivara in Washim district. Farmers are of the view that if they change the cropping pattern, they will not get the desired yield. But Amol Bayas has shown that production can be achieved by studying everything from cultivation to market. No one in Panchkrushi has experimented with Ashwagandha farming, it has been done by Amol. Moreover, he has achieved this alchemy without the use of chemical fertilizers. He is confident that the four-month crop will yield millions per acre.

Ashwagandha, an important medicinal plant in Ayurveda, is in great demand and its roots, stems and leaves are used in the manufacture of medicines. With this in mind, Amol Bayas has planted Ashwagandha in his one acre farm.
