Melbourne: England fast bowler and all-rounder Sam Crane on Sunday won the Player of the Tournament title in the ICCT-20 World Cup 2022. Sam Crane, the key player in England’s T20 World Cup-winning team, took a career-high 13 wickets in the Super 12 stage of the tournament. He also took three wickets by conceding 12 runs against Pakistan. Sam Crane took his 13 wickets in the tournament at an average of 11.38, while batsmen could score against him at a rate of just 6.52.

Sam Crane, who has been ruled out of the 2021 T20 World Cup due to injury, played a key role in the death overs for England in this year’s event. The English bowler put his potential to good use by bowling brilliantly on crucial occasions like the power play and death overs. “The way I bowl, I hit the wicket with my slower balls and let the batsmen hit,” Sam said after receiving the player of the tournament award. “How wonderful it is to be world champion.”

Sam was awarded the award based on a panel of experts and online voting. Apart from Sam’s compatriots Jos Buttler and Alex Hales, Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan, Virat Kohli, Suriya Kumar Yadav, Sikandar Raza and Winandu Hasaranga were nominated for the award.
