But speaking to The Sun Online, a US congressman warned that the report would be a vindication, and that officials still think we are too “stupid” to handle the truth about foreign visitors.

Representative Tim Burchett, a Republican who represents Tennessee’s second congressional district, declined an announcement this week that the report would be made public.

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence Dossier is the first annual report on flying objects, which has been officially renamed Unexplained Atmospheric Phenomena (UAPs).

Its launch follows a historic Congressional hearing in Washington in May and last year’s Pentagon Report on UAPs, which examined 144 reports of UAP encounters.

The 22-page report analyzes 366 cases but only half can be explained, according to sources who have seen the report.

It includes a video clip captured by Reaper drones making observations in the Middle East that captured “celestial bodies” in flight and then “suddenly exploding from the screen”.

This week’s report is the first in a series of annual filings promised under the 2022 US Defense Act through 2026.

But the report makes it clear that the recent incidents under review are due to human actions, not extraterrestrial actions.

These sightings are attributed to a combination of foreign observation such as drone flights and weather balloons.

“It’s about power,” Representative Burchett told The Sun Online. “Most people think there’s something else there, they don’t think the average person can handle it.”

Noting the 150 impressive sightings of flying objects that have been classified as “unexplained” in the past year alone, he added, “Our technology is more advanced, we can record things now. Any grandfather can pull out his phone and take video of these phenomena.”

Last week, US Department of Defense spokeswoman Sue Gough admitted: “There is no single explanation that addresses the majority of UAP reports.

“We collect as much data as possible, we follow the data that is driving it, and we will share our findings whenever possible.”

She added that the US government should be careful to avoid disclosing “sensitive information” to potential foreign powers about what US intelligence knows and how it obtained that information.

Until someone inside comes out with a tape or a picture or something tangible and puts it online, we won’t know the truth

But Representative Burchett criticized the decision to amend much of the report, calling it a cover-up.

“What are they afraid of?” Asked. “We’re still not releasing the Kennedy files. No one alive today could have been involved in the JFK assassination, so who are we to worry about embarrassment?”

“People in power are in denial.”

“I will release every last file,” Representative Burchett added.

He believes that if the full report is released, “we may finally find out what really happened in Roswell, and find evidence of plane crashes.”

In July 1947, an unidentified object crashed into the desert near Roswell, New Mexico, sparking decades of intrigue.

Witnesses claimed to have picked up strange material from the craft with hieroglyphs on it – while others insist they saw dead aliens among the wreckage.

The Army issued a press release on July 8, 1947, stating that they had found a “flying disk,” however, officials later claimed that the crash was a flying weather balloon part of Project Mogul, a secret Cold War project.

This year, on the 75th anniversary of the mystery, a retired US Air Force captain claimed to have hacked the key to what happened, thanks to some key words in a memo.

Ophthalmologists also hope the new report will shed some light on the so-called Tic Tac video, which showed an unidentified object being pursued by fighter jets.

Another UFO is said to have “closed 10 nuclear missiles” at a US base, while an expert has claimed that the global phenomenon may have been caused by the first atomic bomb tests in the 1940s.

But Representative Burchett remains unconvinced that this upcoming report will contain any truly shocking testimony.

Instead, he says, we’ll likely get a “rework” of what we’ve seen before. “The cover-up will continue,” he added.

“Until someone comes out inside with a tape or a picture or something tangible and puts it online, we won’t know the truth,” he said.

Representative Burchett, who was first elected in 2019, used to dismiss his views as conspiracy theories.

But he thinks the tide is turning in his favour.

“The only reason this is going to be discussed in Congress is because ordinary people are pushing them to do it.”

He called on Americans to keep pushing for the whole truth.

“Push the elected officials,” he said. “Every congressman and woman is about to be re-elected this year.

“If they don’t do what you say, get them out of office. That goes for every democracy.”

But he warns that most politicians do not want the truth about UFOs to emerge.

“Members of these committees come to me and say, ‘We have much more important things to do than discuss this,'” he said.

“If it was from another country, it would be an act of war. But when it’s something we don’t understand, we cover it up.”
