One person has been arrested and another arrested for allegedly assaulting a police chief inside a police station in East Delhi, police said on Saturday. They said the arrested suspect is Satish Kumar, 29, from Karkardoma village.
Police said they received information on July 30 at 11.27 p.m. that a woman had been assaulted and her golden chain broken in Karkardoma village. The case was between two people, Anshal Bakshi and Ajay, who are both residents of Karkardoma village. A senior police officer said Ajayi, who was found to be drunk, was arrested from the scene and taken to the police station for further investigation. After that, Ajay’s brother Satish Chaudhry and others came to the police station and tried to provoke the police on duty, Deputy Police Commissioner (Shahdara) R Satyasundram.

Meanwhile, Police Chief Prakash came to the police station. The police said that these people surrounded him and were abused and assaulted. They said that some of them also recorded a video of the incident and then circulated it among themselves.
In the video, which went viral on social media, some men were seen assaulting the policeman’s head while others recorded the incident. A medical examination was conducted on the injured policeman immediately. The PSD said his complaint was registered and two people were arrested in connection with the incident.
Later, one of them was arrested. Police said the role of the second person has been verified. They said that efforts are being made to identify and arrest others involved in the incident.
