Cetapur: A video of a saffron-clad major allegedly delivering a hate speech against a community and making a “rape threat” surfaced on social media on Thursday, prompting police to launch an investigation.
The two-minute video clip containing hate speech is said to have been recorded on April 2 when seer Bajrang Muni Das, Maharshi Shri Lakshman Das Udasin Ashram in Khairabad town, was organizing a procession to mark Navratri and Hindu New Year.
Bajrang Das Muni can be heard saying in the video that if any Hindu girl is harassed by a man from a particular community, he will himself rape a woman from that community. He also made some disapproving comments.
It is alleged that when his convoy arrived near a mosque, he began delivering hate speech with a megaphone.
“I am telling you this with love that if one Hindu girl harasss you in Khairabad, I will openly take your daughter and stepmother out of your house and rape her,” he heard him say in the video.
After the video surfaced on social media, Sitapur Police launched an investigation under the additional Superintendent of North Police Rajiv Dikshit.
The police said that legal proceedings will be ensured in accordance with the rules on the basis of facts and evidence emerging in the investigation.
